This painting was created on top of a previous painting which I never really liked. Consequently there are visible signs of former brush strokes, gesso and lumps of paint. The sides/edges of the canvas have also been painted in the background colour range.
The pony is painted with violet/blue/pink tones just for a change. I used a drying medium to extend the body of oils and to assist application, especially in the finer details.
I have included a couple of photos showing the painting process where I started with the outline and gradually filled in the rest starting with the head.
