A moody landscape from a few years ago. I reluctantly part with these seascapes as I get so much out of looking at all the textures and atmospherics.
This colourful artwork is inspired by the flow of water, especially rain, sun-showers and the surface of water. What lies below the surface? What lies above the surface?

Water as a subject, context and formal element seems to often find its way back into my artwork. It reveals my passionate love of the sea and all things water. Here I am also inspired by the cloud formations reflected across the water, down-pours, under currents, drifts, the movement and flow of all things air and water. The storms above and below the surface. Patterns on the macroscopic scale. I find all these things meditative and worthy of contemplation.

I have to confess this series is also deeply inspired by the William Turner water paintings. It is an exploration and ode to the way he abstracts water and landscape with impressionist painterly gestures. Expressive brush marks that are so fresh and meaningful.

This painting is beautifully coloured and has many layers to its subtly textured surface. I loved using this colour palette. The fiery reds and yellows playing off against the emeralds.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their beautiful walls finesse and a splash of colour for years to come.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jacquelyn Stephens is a Melbourne based artist who has been successfully exhibiting her paintings for over 20 years since completing a BFA in Painting at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts. She has gained an extensive knowledge of Art, quality art materials, techniques and theory from working closely within the arts industries and in her own art practice. Jacquelyn works full time from her studio on the Melbourne fringe. She has had several successful solo and group exhibitions in commercial galleries and artists run spaces. Her paintings can be seen in many media publications and are held in private collections worldwide. Many of the key themes in her work have been informed by her interest in water, nature, science and the domain of medicine.
