ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photograph taken from Circular Quay in Sydney, NSW. A red and white depth marker is seen in the left foreground, the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background and one of Sydney's famous yellow and green ferries to the right. Using ICM, the scene takes on an abstract feel more in line with a painting than a photograph.
About ICM: Intentional Camera Movement allows the camera to be freely moved during exposure, much like a painter would use a brush, allowing for a highly abstract, painterly image. Often multiple exposures are laid atop one another to enhance and build the image. In a sense, ICM images are an exploration of time itself, where a single image represents not only the movement of the lens and camera, but the passing of a moment in time. Unexpected details and unique shifts in colour are the result.
