Tidal Pools is an artist's expression of the colours of the coast. Walking at low tide, beautiful impressions are left in the sand by stingrays, feeding at high tide. Little pools of water collect in these impressions, creating a wonderful array of organic shapes along the shore.

The work is made by pooling layers of different colour, shape and thickness. These are allowed to dry then more layers are added building up over time. In the detail photos you can see that the natural wood grain shows through here and there. In some places I have used the acrylics more like watercolour, allowing the colours to collect and collide. When I am happy that the work is complete, a final 2 layers of acrylic matt medium seals the work and creates a lovely silky matt finish.
The board is made from artist's quality birch wood that has been kilned dried to add strength and prevent warping. On the back are timber bracing bars, adding extra strength and durability.
The work is ready to hang. Although it would look great in a floating frame.
All works are carefully & expertly wrapped for shipping. I use recycled and upcycled wrapping and cardboard when appropriate to do so.
