Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This is one of my most accomplished and sophisticated pieces in terms of composition and techniques. I am particularly proud of this work and I spent over a year working on this, building up many layers of paint.
I aimed to create a gritty, textured and archaic quality exemplified in the clouds of dust and the burning logs/smoke.
The idea or feeling behind this work was to convey the horror of warfare and the tragedy of the deaths of innocent people.
Canvas is custom-made and the stretcher is strong and deep (35mm) with a cross bar on the back.
Ready to hang with strong wire/d-rings on the back.
This painting would work effectively with a bronze-like frame or a dark timber frame.
