Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
It was well-worth my time, and effort, getting up at 4am one summer morning when temperatures were predicted as 37C+. Headed for local beaches at Semaphore (S.A.) - pre-dawn and dawn. In order to take reference photos to do some paintings from. I was well rewarded. The beach was alive with horses being exercised in various forms, some were just getting a swim.
There was one man that seemed really serious about his 'work' in a cart, with five (yes, there are 5!) horses. He looked like this was quite his regular thing to do. It's only recently that I've found out that it was Alby Holberton (now deceased), a legendary trainer in harness racing - taking no-hoper horses and creating winners. So, in painting this, I have captured a part of history.
The morning suburban beach population has decreased now, and may even be gone some day. I've painted other scenes from that one morning, one sold so quickly at an opening for art show at Glenside, I didn't have time to blink!
This painting has turned heads for those that love horses and horse racing. So know this will be appreciated by those that love and are passionate about such things. I'm proud to be able to depict part of the lifestyles of Australians, doing what they do best. And continue to seek out such things to portray in my art.
All care is taken to represent my artwork, but due to monitors and other variables - colour, and also size in hanging suggestion, can vary. Signed on front, and rear, with COA provided. Available internationally. Image size: 14x21"
