An artist friend took me to the Mapleton Lily Ponds, across the range from where I live in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. There, in one area of the pond, right near the footpath and road, was this water hen, The Dusky Moorhen. She sat on her intricately built nest, totally unperturbed by the photographer (moi) or the busyness and noise surrounding her.
