The flowers of the Black Kangaroo Paw, Macropidia fuliginosa, are fascinating to observe during maturation and ageing as they change colour from green to yellow and curl up, making the black hairs on their surface even more prominent. This dried flower emphasises that beauty can be found in many forms in the natural world. To emphasise the unusual shape and texture, I rendered this dried flower at 20 times life size with artist quality coloured pencil, then had it framed professionally with raw timber behind anti-reflective and UV-protective glass.
