Artist statement
‘ A painting is never finished, it merely stops an interesting place’
A painting does not feel like it is mine until the essence of the subject is exposed, the texture tangible with layers revealing a glimpse of what has passed whilst concealing that which enhances the surface.
Fragility, spontaneity, line and vibrant colour inform my work, the need to reveal that which cannot be seen is a constant and for this reason process is replaced with gesture and chance.
The invisible tension between abstraction and form is my obsession, perfection is found always within the beauty of imperfection and courage is needed to unveil the distinction between the two.
Always made with love and inspired by nature in one form or another.
