This is an original, one off, unique abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall.
This painting looks at the microscopic minutiae of life, what is real but cannot be seen with our normal sight. I use microscopes and magnifying devices in my exploration of these micro-worlds.
The circular configuration of the design makes a direct reference to the lenses we view the world through not just in science, like the microscope, but through out many aspects of our conscious and unconscious life. In using organic motifs I am alluding to visceral & cellular life forms as well as making references to the other-worldliness of the building blocks of life. I wanted the painting to be sublime and beautiful yet also have the feelings of fragility and vulnerability.
Although this is from quite a few years ago now I still like its freshness. I continue to find this series of work intriguing and it still breathes for me.
What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls a talking point for years to come.

About the Artist
Jacquelyn Stephens is an Australian artist who has been successfully exhibiting her paintings for over 20 years since completing a BFA in Painting at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts. She has gained an extensive knowledge of Art, art materials, techniques and theory from working closely within the arts industries and in her own art practice. Jacquelyn works full time from her studio on the Melbourne fringe. She has had several successful solo and group exhibitions in commercial galleries and artists run spaces. Her paintings can be seen in many media publications and are held in private collections worldwide. Many of the key themes in her work have been informed by her interest in water, nature, science and the domain of medicine.
