Waterlilies 1 is a small work on artist quality canvas with raw clean sides. The inspiration for my waterlily paintings comes from my love of the water and the influence of Monet. I have completed many waterlily paintings that seem to bring joy not just to myself in the act of seeing and painting, but for many other people who have purchased my work. I have made several trips to Kakadu and any time I come across a waterlily pond I am photographing or sketching. I love the hidden elements, the bright colours and often messiness on the top of the water's surface hiding what is underneath in the dark depths.
