I am visually stimulated by the natural environment that surrounds us such as plants, leaves, bush-nuts, seed pods, and all the organic products of the landscape. My work has a strong focus on the on the pattern, shape, colour, and the rhythm of the land of the land.I stylise my designs rather than formalise them, with the intention to create the joy, and beauty and complexity of elements found in nature. Colour and mark making is a strong focus and key component of my work, where the work becomes detailed and complex in areas. The art work almost takes on the appeal of a textile or tapestry, the intricate lines and patterns move the eye around the canvas to find a composition within a composition, creating a medley of abstract plants.
