"Taking Flight" is a mixed media abstract painting that aims to capture the essence of liberation and the moment of embarking on a new journey.

Incorporating many layers of acrylic paint, pencil, spray paint, and oil pastel, this artwork has several layers which are added using brushes, spatulas, and layers and finished with several layers of gloss UV varnish, and two layers of satin UV varnish. As a result the finish is very textured but smooth to the touch.

Incorporating rich texture, there is a blend of relief, layers of paint, and intricate scratching techniques using scrapers, screwdrivers and other tools, to unveil hidden depths within the artwork.

Emerging during the painting process, the composition features a vibrant central figure resembling a bird in flight, that embodies the spirit of breaking free and soaring into the unknown.

Viewers are invited to reflect on the parallels between the act of taking flight in the natural world and the personal moments of transition in their own lives.
