This painting is inspired by my second love, a beautiful place on the south coast of NSW. I explore in my kayak and then rush back to make sketches and studies.
I love strong colours, in particular blue and often start landscapes on a strongly coloured ground. Using both transparent and opaque layers I try and capture the play of light in the landscape and the atmosphere of the place.
This painting is on smooth board supported on a timber frame and is ready to hang. It would also look lovely with a white or Tasmanian oak floating frame.
