This abstract expressionist work was born out of a playful day in the studio where Kathryn purposely stripped back the usual commencement of a painting with planned background layers and rather just responded to the immediate blank canvas and allowed gestural mark making and a limited pastel palette to do the speaking.
She wanted it to be light and whimsical like the conversation she was having with fellow artists in the room. Meanwhile the the gentle tones of Blues Jazz and Melody Gardot wafted through the studio.
