This work is derived from my fascination with eight-point star patterns, which I found by scouring quilting and patchwork patterns. But here the pattern not only deteriorates (beginning at the strong, somewhat monochromatic centre), but also fractures into endless colours and secondary shape derivations. The spectrum is rich and the finish is perfect. The top edges are so deteriorated they are blank, with only grey and white tones.
