This collage of a sheep herder and mother of eight from China is based on a quilting pattern of hexagons with contrasting overlay. The composition suggests all the thoughts, dreams and mental resources she would have to possess to carry out her life in these roles.
This collage is made from recycled magazines cut by hand and glued onto thin mdf panel painted black. There is a fine orange outline around the figure. This work is varnished and has a gloss finish.
