I wanted to paint this scene for years however I have never actually had the opportunity to take a photo of this magnificent vista. That is until my young American cousin Zack undertook a walking treck through this area earlier this year and has kindly given me permission to use the photo and paint it.

This is a well known vista and tourist spot at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains. The rolling mountain range was painted in the traditional way with the setting sunlight hitting the top of the trees. The left hand escarpment and visitors track was entirely painted with palette knives with a bucket full of mixed up tubes of various oil paints brands that I don’t usually use. To be truthful when I started this side of the painting I had no idea how to attack it and as always once I start the brushes and palett knives seem to take on a life of their own.

I throughly enjoyed painting this very different painting and the buyer will indeed purchase a painting with a lot of love poured into it.
