Driving through the north-west of Sydney on the way to a little mini winter holiday, the sun was bright and casting the most beautiful light and shadow on a steep road that led up a hill into bush land. I fumbled my phone, trying to unlock it in time to get a photo and my husband laughed at me (once again) because I'd just put it away. He said I'd never make it but the joke was on him! I got a great reference photo and used it to make a painting of the scene that I was so happy with, I created another one very soon after. This is the second painting which I have now decided will become a series as I adored painting this so much.
(I'm not sure what's next, possibly some abstract close ups? We'll see!)
The painting has been framed in raw Tassie oak. I love framing in this material but in this particular instance, it works even better as it perfectly compliments the earthy colours of the painting and marries with the natural theme.
