white clay
Signed on the back.
Ceramic vase with natural river pearls made from white earthenware clay , inspired by the ocean . Decorative item.
My ceramic vases and sculptures are all made without the assistance of a potter's wheel. Everything is hand built, either from slabs or coils or a combination of them.
My style is a sculptural style of ceramic art, which I created myself. I prefer to use white fine clay as it allows the real beauty of clay and the patterns to stand out.
This hand built, one of a kind decorative vase, is made of a white earthenware paper clay (paper clay is any clay body to which processed cellulose fiber has been added, paper being the most common).
A coiling method was used on the building this vase. Fired. Colour is creamy white.
I didn't not use glaze due to the decorative patterns added. I think glazing sometimes eats away all the texture and effects on the surface of clay. It has a highly polished finish, there is no any rough lumps of clay. This is done by hours of careful hand sanding and cleaning. When day light reflects on the highly intricate coils that form the decorative patterns, its surface gives off a satin sheen which is very beautiful.
Hight 22 inches, width- approx. 10 inches , around - 25 inches.
Care for the vase - can be washed with sponge + soap and warm water, remove exess of water from the surface of the vase by clean cloth. Drying out time is 1-2 days .
Dusting with brush can be done as well.
