This piece alludes to the bark on eucalyptus tree trunks - exploring the intertwined relationships between the naturally occurring chemical and insectivorous processes. The art process begins with curling up the copper sheet to create a three dimensional form. Then, I implement markings and holes on the surface that reciprocate through the furled layers. Then it is partly dipped in a ‘chemical bath' before opening the piece out to a flat two-dimensional plane for observation.
Transparency oils have been applied to seal in the patina.
