The “floatiness” of the dried hydrangea flower was my inspiration for this artwork. I find the petal shapes and textures, the spaces in between, and the way each flowerette interacts with the other intriguing. I have utilised this inspiration to evoke fragility and sensuality, through shape and colour, my mark making and the materials I have used. My techniques range from collaging papers, some have been monoprinted using metallic printing ink, stamping acrylic paint using crocheted doilies to simulate the veins and textures of the dried petals all over a black tea and raw sienna ink wash background.
