I have used colour to evoke an abstracted image of a rich garden pallet as I remembered a beautiful day during a holiday in Greece. We sat on a rooftop garden filled with masses of colourful roses against a whitewashed background, and tasted for the first time rose petal preserve. I have used warm bright colours to reflect the sunshine and vibrancy of the roses, layering and overlapping the paint to construct my composition much as a musician uses notes when composing a song. I hope the viewer can feel some joy looking at this painting as I did looking at those roses ... and eating them. What a treat.
