To me, letterboxes mark the threshold, the line of demarkation between home and the rest of the world. A little tin box that carries such a heavy load, sometimes full of potential and excitement or more often, I suppose, full of dull ordinary responsibility. Like a lot of things these days, the written letter is becoming something of the past, yet we all still have letterboxes waiting, full of hope and expectation. Pen Pals is a nod to the creative people that can take a standard metal box and jazz it up and mark it part of the environment. Ive seen plenty of them throughout the outback.
