A small figure makes his way along a path towards a house set amongst a small thicket of trees. The dunes are covered with sparse grasses and bushes as well as the fallen limbs of trees. In the distance the fields beyond move in and out of shadow, above them the broken clouds gather and move across the sky. In the immediate foreground the ominous presence of dark clouds loom overhead, presenting the potential of a gathering storm. The simple triangular composition allows the eye to follow the traveller into the picture, exploring the trees and dunes, before leading our gaze outward to the hills and fields beyond.
