Artwork Description

Linocut Print on paper

Signed and numbered on the front.

This colourful linoprint has been handprinted onto Japanese Kozu paper using a print baren. The scene depicts a surfer on a 'Hokusai' size wave. at Spooky Beach, a popular surfing spot at Angourie, NSW. The print has a 70's feel with the yellow VW on the beach.
The original name for Spooky Beach was boatshed beach and then Chuns. The point is called Spooky Point so it became Spooky Beach. In Jack Pollard's Australian Surfer circa 1964 reference to surfing out at Angourie was 'spooky' because it was so isolated and no one was around.
The print is 20cm x 20cm and will add a spot of colour to your wall.

The print uses the subtle colour of blue combined with sepia ink. It depicts a girl looking back from the top of steps on the slopes of Cinque Terra in Italy. The steps follow the coastline and were lit by the mediterranean light. They follow the edge of vineyards. The linoprint is created with subtle blue, white and black colour range, It depicts a piazza in Lucca, Italy. A figure in the bottom right-hand corner is reading a travel guide at a cafe table. The print shows the towering landscape of Hanging Rock and evokes the mystery surrounding the area. A lone figure of a girl sits in the bottom right-hand corner seemingly having a picnic.
