I often paint outside on site and this little beach scene was painted as I stood on the warm sand at Alexander Headlands looking out across to Pt Cartwright. It was a bit windy and I had to hold my easel steady several times but the colours blended together so well and I was really pleased with with these happy hours spent painting on a beautiful early morning in autumn. I could have called it a touch of magic as the light was soft and the sun warm but the air held a welcome coolness after a hot summer. This little impressionist painting captures the feel of the day and the promise of welcome cool relief ahead.
