This landscape contains beautiful, multiple layers of texture and colour. Truly more beautiful in real life. It glows with rich ochres, sienna, blues and teal. Broad confident strokes of the palette knife are evident. Texture has been created with areas of paint and strips of canvas. It is a stunning piece.

This painting along with Japanese Teacups was entered in a local art show and in the judges summing up he candidly told those assembled that he had a hard time choosing between the two for first prize and on points allocated I had achieved a first and a second! That certainly made my day even though I could only win one prize the first prize was very welcome! What do you think, which one deserved the first?

Horizon sits as a piece that belongs to my repeating themes of journeys in our lives. We are often on a precipice in life. Our journey is influenced by our choices and our reactions; however, it is not always determined by us alone. The path ahead is rarely an easy trajectory.
