Mixed Media on wood, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This pieces was inspired by Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand. The turquoise ocean seemed to melt into the blue of the horizon as I sat up on the cliff top. Around me, dried thistle bushes contrasted with the bright green of the native grasses.
The soft teals and blues give an instant colour lift and a little touch of spice to any room.
I paint sketches on paper in the landscape. Small sections of these are used as collage to start the painting and create interesting texture in the early layers. Many layers of acrylic, oil pastel, pencil and sanding are used to build up intrigue, depth and colour.
