Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

The most beautiful hydrangea from my mothers garden. One of the biggest I have seen. Another stunning specimen she has given me to paint.
With this painting I really wanted to capture the bloom in all its glory, shimmering in the back light, leaves at perfect right angles, my green crackle vase glittering. I've left parts of the under-painting showing through as they were too beautiful to cover. The loose brushstrokes, the blurred edges in parts, the drips, the exposed magenta, all memories of the process and add to the magic of this painting. A simple concept and composition but so close to my heart.
Painted in oils over acrylic with love. xx
