Spring Song is a painting I had brewing in my mind for some time before I began to paint. I was initially inspired by a reference photograph kindly given to me by photographer Dean Hohn. This photograph was of the female wren, backlit in the background. I wanted to find a picture of a male superb fairy wren apparently singing back to the female that would work with this one. Some time later, I found the image of the male by Dianne Aitken, which she also allowed me to use as a reference.

This painting is framed behind art glass.
