Pushing my Abstract release series further this work is an attempt at me making fun of myself in a way. A friend of mine told me that compared to my realistic portraits these seemed like "a bit of a joke" and i was simply "clowning around with spray paint making fast art". This is semi true in that i do have fun making art, and the drawings these paintings are based on are developed rapidly, but the speed the draft sketches are created is what makes the abstract portraits what they are. This is why i chose to create a graffiti-esque clown, not as a joke, but as a reference to the playful nature, happiness and joy i get from creating these works. Maybe others will view this one as a joke too, and i suppose in a way it is...painting is good for a laugh after all.
