This painting was created in 2013. It is a depiction of a place called Third Creek at Redhead Beach in Newcastle. I was drawn to the scene whilst walking one afternoon when i came across a discarded motorcycle tyre in the creek. It was a perfectly still day, no ripples on the water, the tyre seemed ideally placed yet totally foreign within its surroundings especially as it is a landcare site. After i completed the painting i removed the tyre, along with a discarded gas bottle and half a body board. I haven't been back in a number of years, i wonder if there is any more ideally placed trash i can paint there now.
