Artwork Description

This painting takes us back to a moment in early Australian bush life. It was my original submission artwork to the publisher Landsdowne in 1982. I was then chosen as the preferred artist to illustrate, for the first time in full colour, the classic book ‘Seven little Australians’ by Ethel Turner. The book was designed along the lines of a Victorian novel, with meticulously researched & finely detailed watercolour plates & vignettes.
Nell & Baby, ten & four respectively, are caught in a tender sisterly moment not far from the fateful stockman’s hut at Yarrahappini.
The artwork is presented in a coloured mount.
