Serena Elle is a Sydney-based contemporary abstract artist and mum to a spirited seven-year-old. With a background in visual arts, she has developed a distinctive style defined by ethereal, earthy large-scale paintings and a restrained, minimalist palette.
Working in sun-bleached tones of sand, clay and washed ochre, Serena creates spaces you can fall into — places that feel both familiar and like dreams you almost remember. Her paintings explore the presence of landscape through softened horizons, shifting light and weathered surfaces, capturing the fleeting nature of place and the traces it leaves behind.
Her work unfolds through subtle shifts in tone and texture. Delicate washes, worn surfaces and sgraffito markings emerge like traces of a hidden language just beneath the surface. Layers of pigment are built up and etched back, revealing fragments of earlier marks and colour beneath. Each piece carries an intentional rawness that makes the work feel alive.
Creating statement pieces for coastal, minimalist and design-led interiors, her work has been featured in editorial styling collaborations with House & Garden Australia and selected by leading interior designers and stylists for publication. In 2026, she was named among Bluethumb’s Top 100 Artists.
She has exhibited in group exhibitions across Sydney and Melbourne, and her paintings are held in private collections throughout Australia, the United States and Singapore.
Serena is currently developing a new body of work for upcoming exhibitions.
