This is a composite photograph from the "Surreal Estates of the Tropical North" series of images of which there are 12.
The eclectic mix of architecture found in Far North Queensland has been used to create these new surreal buildings which are placed in an environment of less urban clutter, so one sees the architecture in a new light.
These are conversation starters, so great to have in your living room or hang as a set of 3 together. They have been named to reflect what their previous usage was or what they are now, combined with their environment.
The top facade is Evert House which used to be a jewellers and possibly a solicitors. The old courthouse (bottom part) is now part of a gallery precinct in Cairns; alas bejewelled judge. These trumpet trees are abundant here, and in the spring make their own carpets of petals beneath. The background is a sunset from Chillagoe, QLD.
