Wetlands, where the paperbark tree thrives, are dotted all over Russell Island in Moreton Bay where I have my studio. I particularly love the texture of the bark and the interesting patterns it creates. A texture which lends itself to the palette knife technique, which I personally like using. Softly gliding the knife over the previously painted surface creates the hit and miss, hard edge areas of full intensity paint.
