Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

It was painted during the Wauchope Lasiandra Festival, which celebrates the flowering of this popular flower. Upon further research, the native variety bears a small fruit, which may turn your tongue blue when eaten! I paired the bloom with our Australian native blue tongue lizard, which shares the common name of 'blue tongue' with the flowering fruit. This pop of colour will brighten a fun space and pair nicely with other Australiana decor.

The focal point of the painting is a lavender stem on top of which a bee sits. This is surrounded by more lavender and other flowers which appear to grow in a lush wildflower arrangement. In the background is first a patch of light grass, then two lavender fields. The colours grow darker as they recede. Behind the fields are more grassy hills spotted with trees, and finally some blue mountains deep in the distance. A cloudy sky sits above it all. There are 7 small square paintings. There are a variety of subjects, one portrait of a man, two of a young woman (wrapped in a blanket & at the beach), water, a mug in a rainy window, a sunflower and hands slicing up an orange. A young boy, man, and woman walk along a path that curves to the left. On the right, a clearing in the bushes reveals deep blue water and in the background, a row of houses runs along the riverbank. A small boat sits on the water and the sky is a pale blue.A black and white portrait of Hayley Williams (Paramore).
