Following a track through desert scrub you come upon an oasis between the majestic red cliffs: Ormiston Gorge.
The desert light dances across the sand and water to bounce back off the mica-rich granite, creating golden reflections among the purple shadows. A shy rock wallaby peers from her outlook atop the boulders, and a lone explorer sits on a fallen log on the far side of the waterhole beneath the shade of a tall redgum - both dwarfed by the soaring canyon walls.
