Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
Old Man Banksia by Anica Amphlett is an original watercolour painting and requires framing to hang.
Once the beautiful greenish-yellow bloom head with its thousands of little flowers starts to wither away, the big seed pods appear. It takes a lot of heat for them to open, then this bloom turns into an "Old-Man". The very characteristic open seed pods look so animated. Some look like eyes, others like laughing mouths. Then there's all those hairy whiskers as well!
Set on a gnarly branch it is surrounded by serrated leaves, much like a saw.
Mission: I strive to express emotion in my artwork and hopes it resonates with you too. I also hope that it lifts a special spot in your home. My style is a combination of looseness and detail, allowing watercolour to do its magic and then adding some detail bringing the subject to life.
