I spent my younger years denying my sensitivity. While mum teared up in the couch watching Korean drama, I calmly predicted the plot till the end of the story line. I traveled. Moved to live some 10,000km away from home. Unblocked my drain and changed my light bulbs, I couldn't be the sensitive one.

Yet one grey autumn afternoon, the end of daylight saving, your nextness and nearness was 17 hours away, I found myself slowly fading into the endless grey.

I had to wander across the road, buy myself a bunch of sunflowers and let them sit on my desk while I worked. Slowly, my usual joyful self ascended in the warm bright yellow light. I still felt the empty spot between my ribs, but I could make myself a bowl of warm soup, care for my dogs, pull up a new canvas while carrying my blue. So I decided to preserve the flowers with my paint brushes. And here they are.

One day, they might be hanging on someone else's wall but the bright yellow light will always be with me. As a reminder. Sensitivity simply means I might be a little sad because the world is suddenly grey. I might need to buy a bunch of sunflowers every now and then to sit with me in the blue for a while. But with the warm bright light within, my sadness will no longer be your burden, and it barely burdens me. It simply lives through me for a brief moment. When you ask me about the painting, I will tell you I missed you, I bought myself a bunch of sunflowers, and they made me happy.

26 days and nights of Africa. In contrast of my pre-departure imagination, they were days of calm rhythm of life. Nothing is dramatic. The world is simply living on, hunting is part of necessity, no greed, no judgement. Under the same divine illuminating light, we are all equal and integrated into one.

Back from Africa, back to my normal city life, the moments when I am drowning in the sea of anticipations in my brain, I lie on the ground and search for the divine light above and within. Yes I have those moments, of course I do. I don't work on every piece of painting with great clarity. I work on them as me. The person often chaotic, sensitive, imperfect .. and that is ok. That is part of me, the part allowed, accepted and respected, by me, as part of my work represents. Learning to live within my own rhythm is going to be a very long journey and I allow myself to fail at times so long as I don’t give up. In the end, art to me is a way of expression, I remain honest, with professionalism.

Travelled around Japan for a month. Was far from enough. And was so difficult to pick a favourite spot. I am a foodie. So I visited Osaka first in this series. Because of the USD $65 per serve tuna breakfast I went back for, two days in a row and it is still holding the record of my most expensive single dish breakfast while traveling. My nose still remembers the out of this world smell of caramelised tuna. Yes! That No. 1 Kama Toro piece. Will I do it again? Hell yes!
