Photo Tour: Bluethumb 2021 Art Prize Winners Exhibition at 1 Denison

We are proud to announce that our Art Prize winning pieces are once again on show at 1 Denison – North Sydney’s tallest building. These pieces have been adorning the foyer and accompanying diners since the beginning of the month, and we are so happy to have people able to see these talented artist’s works in the flesh! You can take a visual tour of the exhibition by viewing the images below, all taken by the talented Shayben Moussa

The 2021 Bluethumb Art Prize was our largest yet, with a prize pool of $50,000. We had an all-star artist judging panel including Bronwyn Bancroft, Kathrin Longhurst, Ken Done, and 2020’s winner Hubert Pareroultja.

Behind the concierge desk sits Brad Holand’s pieces, ‘Ovoid‘, ‘Newtown‘, and ‘Fabertron‘. Brad’s artwork ‘Buzz‘ , which has since sold, was the winning artwork for the Founders Award, judged by Bluethumb’s founding brothers Ed and George Hartley, for the best large statement artwork. These pieces are inspired by early computer graphics, with their bold lines and hard edges. Brad’s abstracts are sure to capture the attention of onlookers, especially with their fluorescent contrasting colours.

In the middle of this wall displays 2021 Art Prize winner Loribelle Spirovski’s artworks. Loribelle won the overall Art Prize and the Portrait category. On show at 1 Denison are her works ‘Here and There 2‘, ‘Kate‘, and ‘Here and There 1‘. Loribelle’s pieces invite viewers to be immersed into the surrealistic world she creates. As per Bluethumb tradition, the previous Art Prize winner returns to judge this years 2022 Bluethumb Art Prize awards, and we are excited to see Loribelle join the judging panel. The pieces on the far right are Alicia Cornwell’s finalist pieces, ‘Vintage Tulips and Swiss Cheese‘ and ‘Society of Tulips and Heron‘. Her piece ‘Turquoise Glass and the Harlequin Blanket’ was the winner of the Still Life award. Her art captures people’s attention, with their bright colours and bold lines. They make a real statement on these walls, and give us an inside look into the beautiful nature surrounding Alicia’s home in the Olinda mountains.

The two artworks you see on arrival really pop off the wall, defined by bright colours and geometric shapes. ‘Honky Dory‘ was the runner up of the abstract category,  and on display you’ll see Stuart Cole’s works, ‘Getback Diptych‘ and ‘Syndicate Diptych‘. These pieces are large in scale and command attention in any space.

Along this wall are artists, Cat Wilson, Lauren Starr, Anthony J Walker, and Tom Christophersen.

These stunning watercolours are from Landscape category winner Kathy Inkamala’s, the two works pictured above are ‘The Crossing to Kuprilya‘,  ‘Kuprilya‘. She hails from a family of watercolourists, and uses this deep-rooted passion to depict her grandfather’s country in the West McDonnell Ranges. These artworks provide viewers an inside look into the environment that Kathy surrounds herself with, and how she interprets the landscapes.
