Artworks Inspired by Famous Artworks

As much as we'd all love to hang a masterpiece in our own home, the price point can be rather unattainable for most. Luckily, many contemporary artists are drawn to the great master works and have put their own spin on them! In this curation, explore a variety of artists influenced by famous artworks - from Da Vinci to Klimt to Warhol.

The painting shows Medusa, standing proudly with a gold snake wrapped around her arm as she hold up a small bowl of water for her snakes. This painting is inspired by Klimt's depiction of Hygeia, in his painting of Medicine for the University of Vienna, which has since been destroyed.

Hygieia is a goddess of health and hygiene, and is the mythological daughter of the god of medicine. I have used a figure similar to Klimt's, but shown her as Medusa, keeping the gold snake around her arm. Like most of Klimt's women, she is powerful and beautiful. She is looking down at the viewer with her all seeing gaze.
