This is probably the most layered painting I have made - I don't count as I go, so I'll never be sure! I'm completely thrilled with that bit just in front of the wave, where the ocean seethes back and forth, just under the surface. One of my students was making paintings of waves, and I got all bent out of shape because I couldn't get much studio time for myself- when I finally got back in to the hallowed space, this is what happened!
