Parliament House Canberra is an architectural design of creativity for a country that was celebrating 200 years of white settlement back in 1988. I was a student from Vic back then and I marvelled at the thought of walking on top of politicians! (You can walk on top of the building...amazing) Little did I know back then that I would live in Canberra and show family and friends how fun it is to walk on top of the politicians still!!
I used my own reference photo of a very hot summer's day in 2018. We often meandered around the circle near Parliament House as thunder clouds build to nothing in the afternoon. I wanted to add the two cockatoos, who, like kangaroos, make Canberra the bush capital that it is. I kind of think it's my husband and I, starting another posting in Canberra again. I'm the screeching kind, worried about things while he is the cool as a cucumber kind, in control and all will be fine. Maybe it's the shenanigans of life in the bush capital or maybe it's the fact that cockatoos make me laugh. I'll leave this for your interpretation of what you think is best to describe my work. There's never a wrong answer.
Illustrated with line and colour for a quirky take on life in Australia's Capital.
