Artwork Description

Mixed Media on paper

Signed on the front.

Not far from where I live in Central Victoria is a secluded spot where, there are numerous pine trees plus gum trees and wattles. It is claimed as a nature reserve and is a wonderful habitat for native birds and animals. This little Echidna has found the perfect spot for a forage. I have chosen to paint this picture using graphite pencil, plus pen and ink on cresent illustration board. I love the way the echidna blends so well into his background of dead leaves and grasses. I enjoy working in monochrome, I love the way it enhances the detail. After all, there is so much detail in this little animal! This painting will fit into any space and decor.

A pair of rainbow lorikeets feature in this design piece as they nestle into the apple blossom branches laden with pink flowers. Their green body feathers blend with the grren leaves on the branches, and their dark royal blue head feathers blend in with the dark blue background. Their red beaks stand out from the flowers with their redish coloured stamens.A Blue wren and his "Jenny" wren feature in this colourful, blue and white tones painting. The blue wren and his jenny are in the foreground, standing in amongst the white daisies with yellow centres.
There are daisies fading into the background and a pale green weeping cherry tree is just to the left of the painting.A Rainbow Lorikeet has landed in an apple tree and has struck the jackpot! The tree is laden with fruit just ripe and ready for harvest. Sharing similar colours to the green leaves and red and green apples this happy bird blends in so well as he settles himself in amongst the leaves and apples. There is part of an old gray and brown wooden fence visible in the foreground so immediately it becomes evident that the bird is in someone's backyard! If it weren't for his striking bright blue head you might not even notice him hiding in the tree.A yellow tailed Black Cockatoo is the centerpiece of this painting. He has stark black feathers edged in yellow, with a yellow feathered cheek. He is surrounded by yellow wattle blossoms and is munching on a banksia cone. There are some green wattle leaves weaving in and out through the wattle blossoms.
