As part of my residency at The Acres during 2023/2024, I drew in my sketchbook every week for many months. I mainly drew flowers in ink with crayons to indicate colour. This rich source of observational material has led to a series of floral paintings painted in the studio.
This piece was inspired by the small row of anemones. My grandmother loved anemones and I would think of her as I drew them.
The title is inspired by my daughter's boyfriend's Mum. She bought another anemone piece from me and told me that three in Vietnamese culture means 3 lucky boys. She has 3 boys so the piece had extra meaning.
