When going bird watching, which is a favourite pastime of mine, I am sometimes struck by the stillness of waterbirds. This is what I wanted to convey in this painting. By avoiding painting a lot of detail I feel that I achieved my goal. The strong red of the chestband and feet gives the painting a lift and contrasts the rest of the colour scheme.
The painting is framed in a 3cm wide, soft golden timber frame, ready to hang.
