Fortunate enough to travel through life, as part of my life, and all unplanned. Along with those travels are the many off-beat and memorable things I get to see. This is but one more. A challenge to paint, but I'm not known for doing 'the usual' or 'easy', or even 'popular'. Capturing but a moment in time.
While this is a peaceful scene, it is also one that is most unexpected. Summer of 2015, a local wildlife reserve was occupied by this traveling nomad covered wagon set, complete with mules. I take it that the park rangers allowed it, using the mules to graze the land in a natural way of keeping growth down. The fencing was temporary - nothing more than ribbon and sticks. So peaceful, and in such a beautiful backdrop of forest covered mountains. Possibly once a more common place scene, and now, not so much. This was in Southern Oregon.
And a message on the wagon(s) - Jesus saves. A message that will resonate with some. But also the poignant thought that sometimes a simple life is so easy to achieve, being at peace with oneself, as well as with the world. Reminiscent of 'hippy times' from the 1960s/70s. Not a care in the world. At peace with the world.
Background 'revamped' June 2022, so, relisted. While all care has been taken to represent this artwork and colours accurately, it is definitely a difficult one to get totally accurate color balance.
Signed on back and side. COA (Certificate of Authenticity) included. Painting is continued on the sides, to give it a more 'open' view. Gloss sealed for protection against dirt and grime.
Ready-to-hang (wire), but can be framed if desired.
