"Granite Country" is an oil painting based on sketches, photographs, and of course memories that were made while visiting areas around Stanthorpe and south to Tenterfield. Granite boulders scatter the landscape and there are seemingly endless magnificent vistas everywhere. This painting is of no specific site but is an amalgam of my impressions once I returned to my studio.
The painting is made up of lots of layers of paint, with many marks making up the final work.
The subject matter has been extended down the sides, and the surface has been varnished for added protection.
